The Justin B. Weaver Scholarship for the Trades is proud to announce its
fifth annual scholarship offering to be awarded in the summer of 2024.
The $1,500 will be given to either a high school student (graduating in
spring of 2024) or post graduate of high school, having graduated prior to
2024 (includes having had received a GED).
Note: ALL AWARDS WILL BE MADE PAYABLE TO THE ACCREDITED TRADE CERTIFICATION SCHOOL OR PROGRAM.
The Greater Waterbury Area towns will be notified of the scholarship opportunity
for the high school student applicants; however, this scholarship is open to all
Connecticut residents. Many of the major trade programs and schools will be
informed of this scholarship opportunity for those post graduate students
pursuing the trades.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One award will be offered to either of the two categories of applicants: the high
school senior or the post high school graduate. The students’ applications will be
reviewed by a committee and scored using a rubric. The highest scoring
applications will be considered for the scholarship. The decision will be based on a blind panel review of the applications. Please answer all questions on the
application with honesty and sincerity. Application form is located on the

Graduating Senior
To qualify, the high school senior, graduating in the Spring of 2024 must be a
resident of CONNECTICUT, enrolling in a trades certification program (e.g.
welding, electrical, plumbing, hairdressing, cosmetology etc), within the
remaining 2024 calendar year.
Proof of enrollment must be given before the award will be distributed and a
check will be written to the school.
Post Graduate prior to 2024
To qualify, the post high school graduate or GED recipient, having graduated in
2023 or prior, must be a resident of CONNECTICUT and enrolled or enrolling in a
trades certification program (e.g. welding, electrical, plumbing, hairdressing,
cosmetology etc), within the remaining 2024 calendar year.
Proof of enrollment must be given before the award will be distributed and a
check will be written to the school.
